There are very few things in this world that make me happier than a simple update. Sure, knocking down walls and new cabinets can be exciting, but an honest to goodness simple makeover just makes everything right.
For this week's Before & After makeover - I chose a fireplace project that was part of a full remodel (flooring, walls, trim, etc.) but it can stand alone as the testament to the power of paint.
The fireplace was fully embracing all the 80's glory with orangey oak mantel surround and peach faux marble tile - and it was time to go!
BEFORE:
area right when we bought it
after carpet was ripped out
I had visions of organic modern vibes with high contrast, wood, and plants. The fireplace as it was? I just couldn't handle it. It had to change.
Check out the article below for all the details and sources but these were the highlights:
Cleaned & repaired ceramic tile
Painted oak mantel surround with Pure White to match new trim
Painted tile a neutral, true black (similar to Tricorn Black)
