Is Your Paint Color Warm or Cool?

Making Spaces

Hello Reader,

So a few weeks ago I mentioned how I start decorating a space by looking for warm or cool tones. This is one of the very first things I do and it makes all the difference. Well, how do we know if a paint color is warm or cool?

While it seems complicated, there's actually a few easy ways to know.

Ready for a little science lesson? All colors are made up of different amounts of RED, GREEN, and BLUE. We call this the RGB code. Warmer colors will have more red, while cooler colors will have more greens and blue.

And guess what, neutrals will have even amounts of red, green, blue. Take a look at Tricorn Black, one of my all time favorite black paints. It's RGB is 44, 43, 44 - so it has almost exactly even reds, greens, and blues - which means no funny undertones!

Now, back to your walls.....

How do you know if your paint colors are warm or cool? Well, RGB code is one way, but I'm sharing 5 super easy ways here in my recent post:
