It's officially patio season - here's where to start!

Hello Reader,
Can we talk about patios for a second? Because it's mid April, and the weather is finally cooperating here in Oregon, and I feel like every year I wait too long to get my outdoor space ready. Then summer is halfway over before I've actually enjoyed it.
This year I'm getting ahead of it -along with new exterior paint next week!
I just published a full patio decorating guide on the blog - with everything I've learned from styling outdoor spaces across several different homes. And I rounded up all my favorite Amazon finds to go with it. Whether you're working with a tiny concrete slab or a proper backyard patio, these ideas work.
The 4 things that make the biggest difference on a patio:
Outdoor rug: This is the single fastest way to make a patio feel intentional. It grounds the furniture and makes the space feel like a real room rather than just a slab of concrete. Size up more than you think you need and look for easy to hose down material.
Throw Pillows: with outdoor-rated fabric. Same layering formula as inside - one solid, one texture, one pattern.
String lights: I know, I know — but they genuinely work. A strand of warm Edison bulbs overhead turns your patio into a place you want to be after dark, which effectively doubles the amount of time you spend out there.
Plant Grouping. Three pots in varying heights - one tall, one medium, one low or trailing - in different colors. That’s it. You don’t need a garden, just a little life. Rosemary, lavender, huecheras, and hellebores are my favorites.

I've curated all my favorite outdoor finds in one place — rugs, furniture, lighting, pillows, planters, and more. These are pieces I'd actually buy (or actually have!), at a range of price points.
I hope these patio decorating tips are helpful. The goal this year is to actually use my outdoor space instead of just walking past it. If you're in the same boat, I hope this gives you the push to get started!
