I admit, I've been pretty overwhelmed lately. From regular life to home projects and creating things here - it feels like a lot.
And because I always want to offer things here in this email space that feel useful to you in creating a home you love, can you take a moment, hit reply and let me know what you love most from this newsletter? That will help me focus more on creating what you need.
Ok, now on to the good stuff. One thing that helps with my overwhelm is creating checklists. Give me allllll the checklists.
And wouldn't you know I have a Home Design Element Checklist too. I'm sharing it here with you - see below.
Free Home Design Checklist
What is it? This free pdf includes a quick list of the 7 Elements of Design - the things that make a room feel balanced. Without all seven, rooms can feel flat or too staged. Plus, I also include specific action items you can take for each element to help with your home.
How to Use Checklist:
If you're working on a space and it just feels OFF, chances are it's missing one or more of these elements. Go down the list and check off each one to see what might be needed.
When decorating a brand new space, like a new home build or moving to a new home, use this checklist to make sure you cover everything. (Even new home builds are missing some!)
Use for mini areas, like a single bookshelf. If you look closely at my shelf photos, you'll notice I include each element!
My goal in home design is not about buying a bunch of stuff... no one needs that. I try to be really focused on what is needed & intentional for a space. Because, of that, I thought I'd start sharing some of my tried & true brands. Kicking things off with a personal connection....
Cascade Iron Co.
This is my brother's metal hardware & fixture business (I help him there). From brackets to hooks and shelves - he makes everything in his shop in Oregon! So proud of him.
