Are you a rule breaker or follower? I always consider myself a rule follower - I like order and structure...but then when it comes down to home design, I throw them all out the window!
(Except for some tried & true guidelines but that's another post...)
Over the last few weeks during some 1:1 design calls (one of my favorite things!), I've noticed a lot of us hold onto to some home decor myths that have been drilled into our minds. And you know what? They don't stand the test of time!
In fact, I think it's high time we let them go. So I'm laying out 3 ever so common outdated rules we can say goodbye to - plus, check out the companion youtube video for extra details!
3 Home Decor Myths
It's time to let these go....
Everything Needs To Be Matchy, Matchy - nope. Things just need to complement. From pillows to artwork and hardware fixtures, they do NOT need to be exact matches.
Every Room Needs Its Own Paint Color - Only if you want to but don't feel like every room has to have it's own accent or wall color. A whole house cohesive color palette can work better.
Smalls Rooms Can't Have Dark Paint - Heck no! Dark colors add depth and sophistication and every space doesn't need light paint
