3 Home Decor Trends That Are Changing

Hello Reader,

Have you noticed the 90's are coming back in a major way? Maybe it's because I have teen boys who both are (re)discovering bands like Nirvana and vintage collegiate sweatshirts (vintage as in the year I graduated college, 2001).

You know what, we're seeing this trend in the home world as well. And while I'm not generally one to jump on a trend band wagon of any sort - clothes or otherwise - I am happy to see these shifts.

Overall, I'm seeing a shift towards embracing wood elements, moving away from the all-white everything aesthetic (trim+ door+ cabinets + banisters), and also the addition of warmer paint colors. And I think that will give a lot of us the freedom to fall in love with our homes again!

Here are some major shifts around me (and even in my own design preferences over the last year). Tell me what you think & watch the video below for more.

  1. Shifting to Wood Kitchen & Bathroom Cabinets - yep, there a strong resurgence of wood cabinetry! I'm currently rocking oak cabinets and am going to sand them down + add natural stain
  2. All White Everything is Not the Default - we're seeing a lot more wood trim work (I did!), a variety of trim elements, and more bold choices like color drenching
  3. Warmer Paint Colors- Here's the pendulum away from the cool grays - lots more tans & khaki paint colors out there. Might be too much for some but the takeaway is a cozy, earthy vibe
